Finding gratitude in the SEASON OF ABUNDANCE
Here in Korea, the 15th of every 8th month of the year, according to the lunar calendar, is one of the biggest holidays in the country called Chuseok. It falls on September 29th in the Gregorian calendar this year, and everyone is looking forward to a few days of respite from the everyday hustle and bustle to enjoy the moments with their families and loved ones. I myself can't wait to clock out in a couple of days!
The traditional holiday celebrates Autumn harvests, the season that symbolizes all nature's offerings at its highest maturity and fruition. It is the season of abundance indeed.
The holiday SEASON helps us put things in perspective.
I can't believe we're already going into Q4. Just a blink ago, I set my goals and vision for the year, a grand vision that seemed truly ambitious and even far-fetched at the time. But most of it has come true already. It's really incredible how powerful visioning is.
Gratitude 1 : folks well & (relatively) healthy
I have so many things to be grateful for. For now, Mom overcame cancer this year. Dad is adjusting well at the nursing home, and his dementia is progressing relatively slowly. These two old poops being relatively healthy and stable now is an incredible blessing in itself.
Gratitude 2 : No stress over money or career
Personally, I'm thankful that I no longer worry about money or where my career is going. I work roughly four days a week, and I don't do any work that I don't want to do, or that doesn't serve my vision. THIS is a monumental achievement for me and one of the critical ways in which I drive productivity in my life.
Gratitude 3 : LIVING MY PURPOSE VIA COACHING
Professionally, I'm thankful I'm actively coaching business leaders and entrepreneurs across Asia through various channels and platforms. Witnessing the leaders break out of their shells and step into the space of self-authority and self-acceptance gives me the greatest fulfillment and joy these days.
Gratitude 4 : (unintentionally) translating a lot
I'm also thankful that I'm doing a lot of localization work in the coaching industry, especially for the Co-Active and Leadership Circle communities. I just finished editing and proofreading the entire Leadership Circle Interpretation Manual, spending over 60 hours on it and THAT, my friend, was a challenge. As difficult as it was, it took me closer to realizing a part of my vision: becoming a go-to expert on LCP in Korea. Again, I never set out to do so much translation at all in the beginning, but my rather excellent - and ever so modest - bilingualism is a gift I have, which, in turn, threw me opportunities to sharpen my knowledge and skills and network with amazing coaches and role models.
Gratitude 5 : ability to say no
I'm thankful that I've learned to say no. My life is full of abundance because I know what I want to include in my world and what needs to go. Saying no to certain things empowers me to allow more room for the Yes stuff and helps me create more value from what I give and have.
Gratitude 6 : you
I just wanted to take my time to thank you for all the unconditional support you've shown so far. Though you may be silent, I know you're watching me and cheering me on. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my life abundant!
We live in a world where it often looks like there's more violence, disasters, and bigotry than we need. That may be true to a certain degree, but I want you to remember that you have the choice and power to create a reality full of goodness and abundance and that abundance can come in many forms.
If you choose to have a mind full of peace, a heart full of love, and a life full of abundance, you can and you will. I wish you that wholeheartedly.
Happy Chuseok! :D
